High Tide

Screen Shot 2020-06-01 at 8.13.56 PM.png

Deeply inspired by the fascinating water textures I captured and collected over the years during my travels, along with Hiroshi Sugimoto’s Seascapes (1980-2002) photography series, I decided to infuse the ideas into my design and draw a knitwear collection.

High Tide is a memory. It is also a thread that led me to build the collection beyond paper and into real life, design and develop a series of swatches, create a prototype using re-purposed materials, and finally, use Stoll M1 software to program and knit a fully-fashioned sweater from the collection.

Here is the journey.

The calmness and the rapids, the high tides and low tides, the ever-changing texture of the body and the surface... How fascinating, the way light softly meets water then glides away... I wish to pass on these gentle and sophisticated feelings to people. This moment right now is seen and felt, then it vanishes, gone forever. High or low, glorious or ordinary, how insignificant it seems...

Every drop of water soothes a drought somewhere, somehow. The life-long chase for high tides ends in the calm water and tender sea.
